A.
DEFINITION OF CHARACTER EDUCATION.
Character education is a system of cultivation character values to the school
community that includes components of knowledge, awareness or intention, and
action to implement these values, both against God Almighty (YME), ourselves,
each other, the environment, or national to be a perfect human man
"Character education is
not just a sound and comprehensive form of young people into a personal smart
and good, but also mold them into good actors for change in her own life, which
in turn will contribute to changes in the social order of the community to be
more fair, good, and humane. "(Doni Koesoema A.Ed)
Personality
is a gift from God the Creator when
human beings are born and every person
who has a personality certainly have their drawbacks and advantages in the
aspects of social life and private respectively. Human personality in general
there are four, namely:
1 Koleris:
This type is characterized by a personal
love of independence, assertive, fiery, like a challenge, the boss himself.
2 sanguinis:
This type of feature like a practical matter, always happy and cheerful, like
shock, like all social activities and have fun.
3 Phlegmatis:
This type is characterized by cooperative,
avoid conflict, do not like the sudden change, a good interlocutor, like a sure
thing.
4 of
melancholy: This type is characterized by
things like the details, keep anger, Perfection, like clear instructions,
well-liked exercise routine.
Example of character
education programs.
1. The School
Environment:
v Teacher Training (Pelatihan Guru)
Associated
with character education programs in schools, how to conduct and implement
character education in schools, as well as how to compile and execute the
program, from ideas to action.
This program supplies and provide insight to teachers about child psychology, how to educate children to understand the mechanism of his mind and the 3 key factors for creating successful children, as well as practical tips to understand and overcome his "problematic" with his behavior.
v Mental Coaching
Program (Program Bimbingan Mental)
The program is
divided into two sessions of the program:
Therapy Workshop sessions, specifically designed for students aged 12 -18 years. The workshop is aimed at transforming and guiding the child's mental age of a teenager. The workshop is working as a "machine instant change" means after the program protege will turn briefly into a more positive child.
Special Seminar Student Parents, help parents recognize and treat his children better, so that children succeed in life. In this seminar parents will learn the basic knowledge that is very nice to learn a variety of child and family psychology theory. Understand the concept of dealing with children at home and at school, as well as easier to understand and understand the minds of children, spouses and others.

Character will be formed
as a result of understanding the relationships identified three experienced
every human (triangle relationship), that the relationship with oneself

B. Successful
Character Education.
Successful character
education program can be known through the achievement by learners indicators
as listed in Junior High School Competency Standards, which include sebagaiberikut:
v Adopt religiosity according to the
level of adolescent development.
v Understand the limitations and advantages of self.
v Complying with social rules occurring within wider.
v Appreciate the diversity of religion, culture, ethnicity, race, and social class within the scope of the national economy.
v Demonstrate a confident attitude.
v Search and apply information from the surrounding environment and other resources in a logical, critical, dankreatif.
v Demonstrate the ability to think logically, critical, creative, and innovative.
v Demonstrate the ability to learn independently in accordance with the potential it holds.
v Understand the limitations and advantages of self.
v Complying with social rules occurring within wider.
v Appreciate the diversity of religion, culture, ethnicity, race, and social class within the scope of the national economy.
v Demonstrate a confident attitude.

PENDIDIKAN KARAKTER
A. Pengertian Pendidikan
Karakter.
Pendidikan karakter adalah suatu sistem penanaman nilai-nilai karakter
kepada warga sekolah yang meliputi komponen pengetahuan, kesadaran atau
kemauan, dan tindakan untuk melaksanakan nilai-nilai tersebut, baik terhadap
Tuhan Yang Maha Esa (YME), diri sendiri, sesama, lingkungan, maupun kebangsaan
sehingga menjadi manusia insan kamil.
“Pendidikan karakter yang utuh dan menyeluruh tidak sekedar membentuk
anak-anak muda menjadi pribadi yang cerdas dan baik, melainkan juga membentuk
mereka menjadi pelaku baik bagi perubahan dalam hidupnya sendiri, yang pada
gilirannya akan menyumbangkan perubahan dalam tatanan sosial kemasyarakatan
menjadi lebih adil, baik, dan manusiawi.”(Doni Koesoema A.Ed)
Kepribadian adalah hadiah dari Tuhan Sang
Pencipta saat manusia dilahirkan dan setiap orang yang memiliki kepribadian pasti ada kelemahannya dan
kelebihannya di aspek kehidupan sosial dan masing-masing pribadi. Kepribadian manusia secara umum ada 4, yaitu :
1. Koleris : tipe ini bercirikan pribadi yang
suka kemandirian, tegas, berapi-api, suka tantangan, bos atas dirinya sendiri.
2. Sanguinis : tipe ini bercirikan suka dengan hal
praktis, happy dan ceria selalu, suka kejutan, suka sekali dengan kegiatan
social dan bersenang-senang.
3. Phlegmatis : tipe ini bercirikan suka
bekerjasama, menghindari konflik, tidak suka perubahan mendadak, teman bicara
yang enak, menyukai hal yang pasti.
4. Melankolis : tipe ini bercirikan suka dengan
hal detil, menyimpan kemarahan, Perfection, suka instruksi yang jelas, kegiatan
rutin sangat disukai.
Contoh Program Pendidikan
karakter.

Lingkungan Sekolah:
v Training Guru
Terkait
dengan program pendidikan karakter disekolah,
bagaimana menjalankan dan melaksanakan pendidikan karakter disekolah,
serta bagaimana cara menyusun program dan melaksanakannya, dari gagasan ke
tindakan.
Program ini
membekali dan memberikan wawasan pada guru tentang psikologi anak, cara mendidik anak dengan memahami mekanisme
pikiran anak dan 3 faktor kunci untuk menciptakan anak sukses, serta kiat
praktis dalam memahami dan mengatasi anak yang “bermasalah” dengan perilakunya.
v Program
Bimbingan Mental
Program ini terbagi menjadi dua sesi program :
Sesi
Workshop Therapy, yang dirancang khusus untuk siswa usia 12 -18 tahun.
Workshop ini bertujuan mengubah serta membimbing mental anak usia remaja.
Workshop ini bekerja sebagai “mesin perubahan instant” maksudnya setelah
mengikuti program ini anak didik akan berubah seketika menjadi anak yang lebih
positif.
Sesi Seminar
Khusus Orangtua Siswa, membantu orangtua mengenali anaknya dan
memperlakukan anak dengan lebih baik, agar anak lebih sukses dalam
kehidupannya. Dalam seminar ini orangtua akan mempelajari pengetahuan dasar yang
sangat bagus untuk mempelajari berbagai teori psikologi anak dan keluarga.
Memahami konsep menangani anak di rumah dan di sekolah, serta lebih mudah mengerti dan
memahami jalan pikiran anak, pasangan dan orang lain.
2. Lingkungan Keluarga:
v Membangun Karakter Anak Sejak Usia Dini.
Karakter akan terbentuk sebagai hasil pemahaman 3 hubungan
yang pasti dialami setiap manusia (triangle relationship), yaitu
hubungan dengan diri sendiri (intrapersonal), dengan lingkungan (hubungan sosial dan alam sekitar),
dan hubungan dengan Tuhan YME (spiritual).
v Pendidikan Karakter Untuk Membangun
Keberadaban Bangsa.

karakter harus digali dari landasan idiil Pancasila, dan landasan
konstitusional UUD 1945. Sejarah Indonesia memperlihatkan bahwa pada tahun
1928, ikrar “Sumpah Pemuda” menegaskan tekad untuk membangun nasional
Indonesia.
B . Pendidikan Karakter yang Berhasil.
Keberhasilan
program pendidikan karakter dapat diketahui melalui pencapaian indikator oleh
peserta didik sebagaimana tercantum dalam Standar Kompetensi Lulusan SMP, yang
antara lain meliputi sebagaiberikut:
v Mengamalkan
ajaran agama yang dianut sesuai dengan tahap perkembangan remaja.
v Memahami
kekurangan dan kelebihan diri sendiri.
v Mematuhi
aturan-aturan sosial yang berlaku dalam lingkungan yang lebih luas.
v Menghargai
keberagaman agama, budaya, suku, ras, dan golongan sosial ekonomi dalam lingkup
nasional.
v Menunjukkan
sikap percaya diri.
v Mencari dan
menerapkan informasi dari lingkungan sekitar dan sumber-sumber lain secara
logis, kritis,dankreatif.
v Menunjukkan
kemampuan berpikir logis, kritis, kreatif, dan inovatif.

kemampuan belajar secara mandiri sesuai dengan potensi yang dimilikinya.
